Re: Any UFC and Boxing fans here?
Yeah back when Vargas was in his prime, he'd run by my house
I'd see him all the time doing his road work.
My dad works close to Robert Garcia's gym. It's pretty dope. I know a few people related to him that are pretty cool dudes.
It's interesting getting their insight as to what goes on in the fight game as opposed to what you hear in the media.
Hopefully one day I'll get to go to one of the big fights in Vegas with them. They have connections with like the promoters and different trainers so
it'd be cool to meet those people.
Kelly Pavlik also used to train here at one point albeit briefly.
Calzaghe was a hell of a fighter man. I remember watching his fights vs Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. Crazy how he beat both of those guys
And yeah that fight with Canelo and GGG would be an incredible fight. However, I think that Canelo's promoter De La Hoya is scared to put him in there with him and risk his cash cow against that monster. I mean Canelo is only 25, which would give him a good ten years or so of big money ppv fights. And even if he ends up beating GGG, I don't think he'll ever be the same after taking punishment from him. Just my opinion, though.

Cool! You should definitely try and get to meet them, maybe even visit the gym if Robert will allow it.
Pavlik was a good fighter too but he seemed to just disappear after the Hopkins defeat. I think he had trouble with alcohol, shame.
I liked Calzaghe and I know he didn't get as much credit in America as he did over here but I can see why. A lot is made of his unbeaten record and his 20 title defences but a lot of his wins were against shot fighters or people you'd never heard of. Kessler and Lacy were probably his best wins i'd say. Still he was talented and his workrate was second to none.
I reckon the Canelo vs GGG fight will have to happen due to public demand. I've read they've both called out new WBO champ Billy Joe Saunders but I don't think Frank Warren will let him anywhere near them two.

In the Kovalev-Pascal Weight Buffer said that Kovalev was training from Florida. What's funny is that Pascal trained in California with Freddie Roach.
Anyway, anyone will be watching the Kovalev-Pascal fight tonight?
Kovalev should win but in case he doesn't take Pascal seriously, Montreal could have all the 4 light-heavyweight belts tonight, Stevenson has the 4th WBC one.
Cheers,
Merlin

Yeah Buffer is right. He started in Oxnard, then moved to Big Bear for the altitude, then on to I believe Miami, Florida.
I'll be watching
I don't think Pascal stands much of a chance though.

Yeah my money is on Kovalev too but Pascal was once a World Champ and still has a good punch and you should take that lightly. Today is strength is more to act like a clown and be a big mouth though.xcfastdude wrote:I don't think Pascal stands much of a chance though.
I think last time is ended in 8th round, I say this time it will be before 5.

I think the over/under on how many rounds the fight will last is set at 9.5. I would bet the under on that easily.
Kovalev is at least a 16-1 favorite in the sportsbooks I'm looking at online (Bovada, top bet, ceasars palace, 5 Dimes, etc).
You can make some decent money placing a $100 bet on Pascal, assuming Kovalev takes the fight lightly. I think a $100 bet on 5 Dimes on Pascal
would win $1500.
Not a bad deal.

That's the kind of bet I would go for.xcfastdude wrote:You can make some decent money placing a $100 bet on Pascal, assuming Kovalev takes the fight lightly. I think a $100 bet on 5 Dimes on Pascal

Not because I think Pascal will win but because like I said above, he was a World Champ and has a good punch and you can never take those 2 lightly. Whether Pascal was from here or anywhere else I would still take the bet. I would too with any other boxer in this situation too.
I never underestimate a former World Champ, no matter how much I hate the guy, one punch and it could be over and because he did that in the past, doesn't mean he can't do it again and cause a surprise.

I wish it will come to a KO from whatever side. These 2 really don't like each other.
Somebody; will hear *DING DING* in the head tonight that's for sure.

I just wanna see Kovalev hit the deck at least once. He'll win the fight but I want Pascal to make it interesting.
