Excellent example of limiting beliefs
Two college students attended an all night party. Next day morning they had a math lecture. They sneaked to the last bench so they could snatch some sleep unnoticed. Both fell asleep and woke up only when the bell rang. All they saw was the professor and the students leaving the class. Two problems were written on the board. Thinking they were home assignments, they copied the problems. During the week end, one of the two students worked very hard and was able to solve one problem. On Monday, he submitted his "home assignment", apprehensive that his grades would suffer as he was unable to solve the other problem. Imagine his surprise when the professor was shocked to see the solution to the problem. The fact was that the two problems were NOT home assignment problems. At the end of the lecture, the professor had written the problems on the board to show the students two problems from their topic of study which had been unsolved for more than 200 years !! Many reputed mathematicians were of the opinion that the problems were unsolvable. NOT KNOWING that the problems were "unsolvable", our party going student had solved it !! How? Because he had no limiting beliefs about solving that problem!!!

Limiting beliefs in elephants?!
Baby elephants are tethered to a strong rope which in turn is tied to a stake in the ground. Try as much, the baby elephant is unable to free itself as the rope as well as the stake are stronger than its strength. After numerous tries, the baby elephant abandoned its attempt to be free and accepts the leash as part of life. A new belief has been installed in it that it cannot break free from the rope.
Years pass and the baby elephant has now transformed into a full fledged adult elephant with enormous strength. However, the limiting belief still exists in its mind. So, even though it can now easily break the rope because of its huge strength, it does not do so, because it "thinks" that the rope is stronger than itself ! In fact there are stories where, a circus tent caught fire and elephants burned to death because they would not run in spite of the fire because they "thought" that they could not break the rope.

Note I found this stories in more than one place.

True or not, they're illustrative of how our SM influences our lives.
